I dont have lots of time to plug praises for a multimillion dollar conglomerate. But this thermostat has gotten better and better since I purchased it. It was between this and the nest. Glad I chose Honeywell. The interface and Internet work flawless, and if there are user suggestions: like default color schemes, filter reset reminders, etc. Honeywell just warns you they are taking the site down for a few hours while youre sleeping, and they suddenly appear. Its can sometimes be the complete opposite with Honeywell. I have heard that they can mess up a cup of coffee on occasion. But this app, the thermostat, and the interface have saved me a ton of money. I have a 2500 s.f. home with single pane wooden windows. Ever since using this app-- it learns how long it takes to cool or heat the home. If you work the schedule right it feels like the unit is on constantly. The average bill is about $100-$120 with a 10 seer gas unit.
I have an American Standard compressor, and a no name brand air handler that is located in the attic. The one thing I did that might have contributed to the longevity of the unit is running #6 instead of #10(code) to the compressor. It made a big difference, especially being located here in SOUTHERN LOUISIANA where is seems to be 120 degrees for the entire months of July-August. Even in the dead of night it is at least 85. The unit never seems to stop running.
